Monkeys can run circles around other people with ease. They are curious and clever people who catch on quickly to most anything. Monkey people generally can accomplish any given task. They appreciate difficult or challenging work as it stimulates them and makes them think.

Years of the Monkey  Monkeys Years are ninth in the cycle following the Sheep Years, and recur every twelfth year. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Monkey Year actually begins.

The Old World monkeys are found in South Asia, with a few species as far North as Japan and North China, and in all of Africa except the deserts. A few monkeys, such as baboons and some macaque species, are ground dwellers. Some Old World monkeys lack tails; when a tail is there it may be long or short but is never prehensile. The nostrils are close together and tend to point downward. Many species have cheek pouches for holding food, and many have thick pads, on the buttocks. Their gestation period is five to nine months. Adult Old World monkeys have 32 teeth. The Old World monkeys, sometimes called true monkeys, are more closely related to the apes and humans than they are to the
New World monkeys.

New World Monkeys are found only in South and
Central America. Their nose is broad and flat, with the mose facing outs. Many of the New World Monkeys have prehensile tails. A prehensile tail can wrap around a branch and can hold and help the weight of the animal as it hangs. A prehensile tail is used as another limb e.g like another foot or arm.

Monkeys are consistently the bad guys, or silly guys in movies there are lots movie where someone is always trying to catch the monkey, or lock it up in a cadge this is a very popular thing to do in movies!  Sometimes it is the story line and it is about a monkey, but in a movie ‘Night At The Museum’  it is the case where the monkey is always tricking the night guard. Here are some movie that you might like to see what I am talking about:

  • Dunston Checks In
  • King Kong
  • Land of the apes
  • George of the Jungle 1 and 2
  • Night at the Museum
  • Cartoons - The Jungle book 1 and 2
  • Pirate’s of the Caribbean 1,2 and 3

Thre are many more and Maybe you could see then and then you would get what I mean by ‘Monkeys being the stars’

Once again another article in the paper about monkeys, This one contains a new baby girl monkey born on 25th of august . This money is a vervet  ( one I haven’t heard of! )  the monkey troop leader - Luway gave birth to Kaygee. These types of monkey come from South Africa, since Luway is the most highest ranked monkey in the group means Kaygee will be too. Vervet monkey are tiny when they are born and only weigh about 200g!  Soon Kaygee will start to move around and wont cling to her mother for ever, soon to start playing with other vervets in the group, like ’King of the castle’ . Kaygee bring the number of vervet monkey up to 20 at the zoo.

Just the other day mum was reading the paper and she showed me a picture of a monkey. ‘Kids outsmart Chimps: Study’
A new study has been shown that toddlers have better social skills than a chimp. Here is a copy of the article and you can really see all about it.  he main out line of the article is about testing monkeys and 2 year olds,  They are really metal skills they were trying to figure out like looking for ‘rewards’ and they were learning social learning skills,  But the monkeys seem to be less coordinated then a 2 years old and left the monkeys in the dark. A simple example that they did was opening a tube with a cap on it, as both the 2 years old and the monkeys watched, the 2 year olds managed to do it but, the monkeys were trying to to break it open. in the end it was 74% - 2 years old children  &  33% to monkeys, over all 2 year old children are mainly smarter then monkeys.
